‘I mean we’ve got to make things worse for Neil!’
‘Why?’
‘Take a look for yourself.’
‘Huh?’
‘At Neil! He’s in the food line. What do you notice 5
about him?’
Cora stared at Neil a moment, then rubbed her eyes and
stared some more. ‘He needs a haircut.’
‘Look at his clothes, dummy.’ Sylvia found it hard to be
nice to her friend sometimes. 10
Cora looked again. ‘Oh, I know. You mean he’s wearing
the same clothes he always wears.’
‘Right. Which means that he’s not paying any attention
to our little text message. He thinks that if he ignores us,
we’ll go away.’ Sylvia shook her head. ‘Well, he’s wrong 15
about that!’
‘What are you going to do?’
‘What are we going to do. Maybe it’s time we did some
blogging.’ Sylvia leaned back in her chair and smiled.
Cora looked at her, not knowing what to say. 20
‘I’ve been working on a text that may cause Neil some
pain. Here, take a look!’ she said and passed Cora a piece
of paper.
Sylvia sat and watched Cora read. She couldn’t believe
how long it took her to get through the short text. ‘Well?’ 25
she said, when Cora finally looked up.
There was a puzzled look on her face. ‘I don’t get it,’
she said.
‘Get what?’
‘Who is “Shocked”?’ 30
