CHAPTER SEVEN
For a while, there was a lot of talk at school about that
blog of November 10th – and about Neil’s disclaimer
of the next day. Several kids even spoke to Neil about
it. But like all sensational news at the school it soon
became yesterday’s news and before long everyone 5
seemed to have forgotten about it.
Everyone except Dr. Jelkins, the principal of the school.
A week after the blog first appeared, he called Neil to his
office.
When Neil knocked on the principal’s door, there was 10
a loud and friendly ‘come in’. As soon as Neil entered,
Dr. Jelkins smiled and asked him to take a seat and wait
a moment while he finished signing some papers. His
smile stayed in place until he completed his work. Then,
suddenly, like the sun going behind a cloud, the smile 15
was gone, replaced by a dark, scary look. Neil was only a
little surprised. He had been expecting something like this.
After all, the principal was known in school as Dr. Jelkins
and Mr. Hyde.
‘What can you tell me about this blog?’ He handed Neil 20
a printout of the blog of November 10th.
Neil looked at it a moment, then said, ‘Whoever wrote
that is lying! I never said those things! Did you read what
