I wrote the next day?’
Dr. Jelkins’s face grew darker. ‘I did. The question is,
            which blog should I believe?’
Neil fought to remain calm. ‘I think you have good
5 reason to believe the second one – the disclaimer. As it
says, I stand up for our school.’ When Dr. Jelkins didn’t
react, Neil hurried on. ‘I could have added that I’m very
active in school life. I not only play on the basketball
team, I’m also in the Science Club and the Jazz Choir.’

10 When Dr. Jelkins heard the word ‘basketball’, his face
lit up. ‘You’re on our basketball team?’ he said. ‘What

‘Yeah. We’ve won all our games so far.’
Dr. Jelkins grew enthusiastic. For the next ten or

20 University of Maine team where he had gone to college,
about the NBA, but mostly about his favorite team, the
            Boston Celtics.

Neil did a lot of nodding and smiling, especially when
Dr. Jelkins started talking about the Celtics.
25 Suddenly, Dr. Jelkins looked at his watch. ‘Oh, no. I’d
like to continue our little conversation, but I’ve got a
meeting in five minutes.’ He got up and shook Neil’s
hand. ‘I’m happy I got to know you better,’ he said,
putting his hand on Neil’s shoulder. ‘I really enjoyed
